Herman 101

From bakery brand identities and campaigns about construction to DevOps blogs and wellness web copy, I’ve spent the last 15 years scribbling voraciously for marketing agencies, magazines, and publishers.

And I’ve authored over 30 non-fiction titles, including the bestselling Does Anything Eat S**t? and LEGO history A Million Little Bricks. I’m represented by Creative Authors, but feel free to contact me directly about book commissions.

My Approach

Not all copywriters are created equal. Some win shiny awards. Others forget to shower. My shtick looks a little something like this.

Capable

I bring a breadth of experience to every project and a willingness to work with others. I know my strengths – if I’m not the right writer for the job, I won’t take it on.

Curious

I write with my eyes open, asking lots of questions to get to the guts of a brand, its customers, and its expertise. Picture a curly-haired, keyboard-wielding sponge.

Conscientious

I’m fast, efficient, and attentive in my approach. From tight turnarounds to longer projects, I’m determined to do great work and exceed expectations.

Considerate

I care about the words I use. That means challenging the status quo and striving to keep content as inclusive and accessible as possible.

My Memberships

I’m an Advanced Professional Member of the Chartered Institute for Editing and Proofreading. It basically means if they’re giving out gold stars for spelling and grammar, I’d get a few.

I’m a Professional Member of ProCopywriters – the UK’s largest membership organisation for commercial writers. It helps me stay on top of trends and keep my skills up to date.

As an Individual Member of 1% for the Planet, I donate at least one percent of my annual earnings to organisations combating climate change.

My Jotter

When I’m not tap-tapping away for my clients, this is where I ruminate on writing, post about projects I’m proud of, and offer the odd punctuation lesson, because who doesn’t love to learn about semi-colons?
